Flowbird delivered Perth’s SmartRider system,

featuring EMVCo and PCI-compliant hardware along with a CloudFare®-based back office, covering design, integration, installation, and support. The upcoming SmartRider upgrade will introduce open payments via Flowbird’s platform.
Perth required a multimodal fare system to enable seamless public transport across bus, rail, and ferry services. Since 2003, Flowbird has partnered with the Public Transport Authority, initially launching the SmartRider contactless system.

Flowbird’s Tag-on, Tag-off SmartRider system enables seamless fare payment across buses, ferries, and trains with a capped fare structure through CloudFare® back office. GPS integration supports zone-based fares, and SmartRider cards are also valid at park-and-ride facilities, covering both parking and transit payments. With a recent upgrade to include EMV/tap-to-ride options via bank cards and mobile devices, Flowbird enhances multimodal mobility.
